Tour Overview

Experience the beauty of the Udzungwa Mountains on this exciting 2-day hiking adventure, designed for travelers looking for a short but rewarding escape into one of Tanzania’s most beautiful mountain landscapes. The journey begins with arrival at the SGR station, followed by a comfortable transfer to your hotel near Udzungwa Mountains National Park. The following morning, you will enter the park for a guided hike through lush tropical forest, following scenic mountain trails toward the spectacular Sanje Waterfalls. Along the way, enjoy the peaceful sounds of the forest, panoramic views, diverse plant life, and opportunities to encounter some of the unique wildlife and bird species found in the Udzungwa ecosystem. After the hike, you will return for your transfer to the SGR station for departure.

Day 1
Arrival At SGR Station Then Transfer To Udzungwa Mountains

Upon arrival at the SGR station, you will meet our professional driver who will warmly welcome you and assist with your transfer towards the Udzungwa Mountains. The journey takes you through beautiful Tanzanian countryside, with changing landscapes as you approach the lush mountain region. On arrival, you will check in at your selected accommodation near Udzungwa Mountains National Park and have the rest of the day to relax, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, and prepare for the following day's hiking adventure.

Udzungwa Mountains Hiking To Sanje Waterfalls Then Transfer To SGR Station

Hiking Distance: Approximately 6 km
Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
Elevation Gain: Approximately 450 m
Highest Point: Approximately 1,150 m

After an early breakfast, you will depart for Udzungwa Mountains National Park and begin your guided hiking adventure. The trail leads through dense tropical rainforest, where you can enjoy the fresh mountain air, beautiful vegetation, birdlife, and the natural sounds of the forest. As you gradually gain altitude, the scenery becomes increasingly spectacular before reaching the impressive Sanje Waterfalls, one of the highlights of the Udzungwa Mountains. Take time to enjoy the waterfalls, surrounding forest, and scenic views before beginning your descent. After completing the hike, you will have time to refresh before starting your transfer back to the SGR station for your onward journey, marking the end of your Udzungwa mountain adventure.
