Tour Overview

This 6-day package takes your guests to the roof of Africa (Uhuru Peak – 5,895m) via the Marangu Route, affectionately known as the “Coca-Cola Route”. It is the only trail on Mount Kilimanjaro that features the comfort of permanent, wooden A-frame huts instead of camping in tents. This classic itinerary includes a steady progression through diverse ecosystems, making it a timeless choice for climbers seeking a solid mountain experience.

Day 1
Arrival At Kia / JRO To Moshi Town

Welcome to Tanzania, upon landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), your guests will be warmly greeted by our professional driver-guide.

They will be transferred directly to Moshi Town to check into Keys Hotel, a charming, family-run base located right at the foothills of the mountain.

In the evening, a pre-climb briefing and comprehensive gear check will be conducted by the lead guide to ensure everyone is fully prepared for the journey ahead.

Day 2
Moshi Town To Marangu Gate To Mandara Hut

Short briefing about our day program; elevation (marangu gate -1,860m to marangu hut - 2,720m), Hiking Time: 4-5 hours, Distance 8 km.

Following breakfast, with packed lunch boxes, we depart Moshi and drive to the Marangu Gate for mandatory park registration.

The trek kicks off with a steady climb through a lush, dense rainforest canopy filled with vibrant birdlife and curious Colobus monkeys.

We arrive at Mandara Hut in the late afternoon, leaving plenty of time to unpack, enjoy a hot dinner, and rest.

Mandara Hut To Horombo Hut

Elevation -2,720m to 3,720m, Hiking Time: 5-6 hours, Distance - 12 km

As we clear the rainforest, the landscape opens up dramatically into the striking moorland zone, dominated by unique giant lobelias and Senecio Kilimanjaro trees.

The trail offers stunning, unobstructed views of both the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks along the way. Upon reaching Horombo Hut, climbers will start feeling the thinner air and are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids.

Day 4
Horombo Hut To Kibo Base Camp

Elevation- 3,720m to 4,703m, Hiking Time: 5-6 hours, Distance-10 km

We cross the stark alpine desert, characterized by thin vegetation, dry winds, and vast volcanic fields.

We trek at a slow, deliberate pace (pole pole) across ‘The Saddle’’ - the wide desert plateau connecting Mawenzi and Kibo. We aim to reach Kibo Hut early to serve an early dinner, allowing climbers to sleep before the midnight summit push.

Day 5
Summit Attempt: Kibo Hut To Uhuru Peak Down To Horombo Hut

Elevation- 4,703m to 5,895m (and down to 3,720m), Hiking Time - 10–13 hours

The Day of Triumph, around midnight, guests are woken up for hot tea and biscuits before beginning the steep ascent in the cold and dark.

Navigating the switchbacks, they will reach Gilman’s Point (5,681m) on the crater rim just as dawn breaks, before completing the final push to Uhuru Peak (5,895m)- the roof of Africa.

After taking celebratory photos, we descend back to Kibo Hut for a hot lunch and brief rest, before continuing down to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved night of deep sleep.

Horombo Hut To Marangu Gate To Moshi For Departure

Elevation: 3,720m to 1,860m Hiking Time: 5–6 hours.

The final day on the mountain is a joyous, celebratory descent back through the moorland and lush rainforest.

At Marangu Gate, climbers will sign the official park register and receive their prestigious, well-earned gold or silver certificates. Our driver will be waiting to transfer them back to Moshi for a long hot shower and a glass of Kilimanjaro beer to toast their success.
