Day To day

Day 1
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

Upon landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a professional representative from SUNDOWN EXPEDITIONS. After a short briefing about your safari adventure, you’ll enjoy a comfortable drive of approximately 1 hour (50 km) to Arusha town, known as the safari gateway of northern Tanzania. The drive offers your first glimpse of Mount Meru, lush coffee plantations, and the bustling life of small local villages along the route.
Once in Arusha, you will have time to relax, recover from your flight, and prepare for the exciting days ahead. Depending on your arrival time, you may take a brief city tour of Arusha, visit the Cultural Heritage Centre, or enjoy a quiet evening soaking in the ambiance of the Tanzanian highlands. Dinner will be served with a delightful selection of local and international dishes, giving you your first taste of Tanzanian hospitality.

Day 2
Mount Meru Day Hike & Meru Village Cultural Experience

After breakfast, you will begin your Mount Meru hiking experience. The hike takes you through beautiful forest areas with fresh mountain air, scenic views, and a chance to enjoy the natural environment around Mount Meru.

 

After the hike, you will visit a traditional Meru village where you will learn about Meru traditions, farming activities, traditional homes, and the daily lifestyle of the local community.

 

You will interact with villagers and experience their culture and hospitality before returning to your lodge.

Day 3
Mount Kilimanjaro Marangu Experience – Waterfalls & Mandara Hike

After breakfast, you will depart for Marangu Village, located on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

You will visit Marangu Waterfalls and enjoy a guided nature walk while learning about the traditions and lifestyle of the Chagga people.

The adventure continues with a hike towards Mandara Hut at approximately 2,700 meters above sea level. Enjoy the beautiful mountain forest, fresh air, and breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Later, you will visit Materuni Waterfalls, where you will enjoy the peaceful surroundings and beautiful scenery.

Kilimanjaro Coffee Village Experience

After breakfast, you will explore a local coffee village around Mount Kilimanjaro and experience the traditional Chagga coffee culture.

You will learn about coffee farming, harvesting, drying, roasting, and preparation using traditional methods. You will also participate in preparing your own cup of fresh coffee while enjoying local songs, stories, and community traditions.

The experience continues with a cultural village walk where you will discover traditional homes, farming activities, and the daily lifestyle of the Chagga people.

Day 5
Chemka Hot Springs – Swimming & Photos

After breakfast, you will depart for Chemka Hot Springs, one of Tanzania’s most beautiful natural attractions.

You will enjoy swimming in the clear turquoise water, relaxing under the trees, and taking unforgettable photos surrounded by beautiful nature.

Lunch will be served at Chemka before starting your return journey to Arusha, marking the end of your memorable Northern Tanzania adventure.
